And the doctor grinned
Januar 16, 2008Today I went to see the doctor. So far I had not considered it to be necessary, but this is my thrid day I’m not going to work and I need this doctoral attest that I am really sick. And the coughing starts to worry me slightly. So far, I got every morning up and told myself after a brief check on my general condition: Today, no, probably you will not go to work, there is not enough energy, but tomorrow you will have rested enough and you’ll be up and working again. Certainly you will.
Only, the next morning I got up checked my general condition and had to admit that I was not really fit to go for work. Just thinking about commuting to the city… No, thank you, I could not endure it. And so ensued another day at home and the same hope for the next day to come…
I told the doctor this story. He grinned and told me that I would probably not go to work this week anymore. And then he diagnosed me with one of the two flus that are at the moment active here in Switzerland. And counselled me to not to go too early to work, otherwise I would simply lie flat the following day.
And well, so I am going to do and see, whether he is right or not. Probably, he is. Because, well, he is a doctor and he has seen enough people with influenza by now, to make precise predictions.
