To Undo
Juli 28, 2007
This sweater has been lingering around nearly since it got finished. (I’m talking here about years, not months nor days). I washed it, tried it on and found that it was just this tad too small. I think, I washed it a second time and hung it out on the balcony to dry. And there it hung for more than a day or two, in all weather and when I took it in again, the damage was done. The side that hung facing the sun had apparently bleached out. I washed it once again and hoped for the best. Alas, the shimmer of the yarn was gone and the color difference between front and back still more than obvious. And so I put the label “needs decision” on it and left it somewhere. It’s been quite a while since. A week or so ago, I took it out, had another look at it, made another wash tried it on two or three times and came to the conclusion that I would have to undo it. Perhaps, I will make another sweater out of it, perhaps I will dispose of the yarn. Don’t know yet. As for the pattern, it is entirely self-designed and I still find it the right pattern for the right yarn in the right color. I thought about making another one in another color as the one I used is no longer available, but well. This simply does not work. And so I leave it at that and go on knitting on the other projects, that I’m involved at this moment.
